For the Glory of God
When all you do is for the glory of God, and not merely for others or even yourself, you will begin to attract the right kinds of people.
If you spend your life trying to please only yourself, trying to chase your own happiness, you will become selfish. Eventually, selfish people end up miserable and alone.
If you spend your life trying to please others, you will fail. You will be miserable, because you have tied your happiness to another’s happiness. If they are unhappy, so, too, will you be.
If, however, you spend your life trying to please God, you will become kind, generous, humble, patient, charitable, compassionate, faithful, honest, pious, and generous. Who would be unhappy to be such a person or to have such a friend?
“Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek all these things; and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things shall be yours as well.”
Matthew 6:31–33
